Vodka became Japan’s most successful Grade One winner on Sunday when she clinched the prestigious Japan Cup by a nose to capture her seventh victory at the highest level. Five-year-old Vodka edged out Oken Bruce Lee in the 533.5 million yen (3.7 million pound) race to cap a remarkable year in which the Katsuhiko Sumii-trained charge became the first Japanese female horse to top $10 million in prize money.
