20/07/2008: GP Czech Republic (Brno- SBK Superbike 2008)

Scritto da: admin, il 21 July 2008, 9:56 pm

Series leader Troy Bayliss got back to winning ways in style as he clinched both races in today’s World Superbikes round at Brno. Bayliss had not had a win since April and had never triumphed at the Czech circuit, but the Ducati rider broke his duck with his 47th career victory in race one and then cemented his place at the top of the World Superbike standings by doing the same in race two. Bayliss beat fellow Australian Troy Corser by 1.5 seconds in the first race of the day and enjoyed victory by even less of a margin in the second as Michel Fabrizio rode across the line less than a second behind him.

13/07/2008: GP Germany (Sachsenring - Moto GP)

Casey Stoner took full advantage of a slip from Dani Pedrosa to win a rain-soaked German Grand Prix as Valentino Rossi claimed top spot in the overall standings with a second place finish. Having set the pace in the dry during Saturday’s qualifying in Germany, Stoner proved he is just as adept in the wet, crossing the line 3.7 seconds ahead of Rossi. Rossi now leads the championship by 16 points, while Pedrosa’s failure to score in Germany sees him slip to second. Stoner’s win propels him to within four points of the Spaniard.

Reigning MotoGP champion Casey Stoner claimed his second win in six days with victory at the Dutch TT in Assen as James Toseland recovered from last week’s debacle to finish ninth. After topping the podium at Donington last week, Australian Stoner claimed his third win of the season in Holland to cut the gap at the top of the championship standings from 45 to 29 points. The Ducati Marlboro rider finished ahead of Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa, who moved to the top of the standings over Valentino Rossi after the Italian finished the day in 11th place due to a crash in the opening lap. Pedrosa got off to a storming start from second on the grid when he beat Stoner into the first bend.

09/03/2008: GP Qatar (Losail - Moto GP)

Scritto da: admin, il 10 March 2008, 3:02 pm

The opening round of the 2008 MotoGP season, and first ever grand prix to be held at night, has been won by reigning world champion Casey Stoner after the Ducati star fought his way past some determined rivals to repeat his Qatar victory of one year ago. Despite qualifying fourth on the grid, behind three Michelin-shod Yamahas, Stoner was a firm pre-race favourite - but the young Australian had to work hard before he finally hit the front, on lap 8 of 22. Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa got a lightening start from eighth on the grid to lead the 18-rider field into the first turn of the 2008 season, with rookie James Toseland and Tech 3 Yamaha team-mate Colin Edwards second and third, just ahead of rookie pole sitter Jorge Lorenzo of the factory team. Valentino Rossi began his first grand prix with Bridgestone tyres by gaining two positions through the opening turns, placing the seven-times world champion between new team-mate Lorenzo and sixth-placed Stoner.

Tutti dietro a Casey Stoner.

02/03/2008: GP Australia (Phillip Island - SBK Superbike)

Scritto da: admin, il 3 March 2008, 4:47 pm

Australian riders took the honours in the second round of the HANNspree Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island in front of a 65,400 crowd.

Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) dominated both Superbike races, while Andrew Pitt clinched the Supersport win. Troy Corser (Yamaha Motor Italia) and Michel Fabrizio (Ducati Xerox) took the other two podium positions in the first Superbike encounter, while Spaniards Carlos Checa (HANNspree Ten Kate Honda) and Fonsi Nieto (Alstare Suzuki) were second and third in race 2.

It was a disastrous weekend for Max Biaggi (Sterilgarda Ducati), who started from 16th on the grid and then had two crashes in two races, the second of which left him nursing a broken wrist.

Troy Bayliss (Ducati Xerox) stormed to victory on board the Ducati 1098 F08 in the opening race of the 2008 World Superbike Championship yesterday, a spectacular result for the team and a significant maiden win for the new F08 machine.

Bayliss then narrowly missed out on a podium place in race 2, finishing fourth just ahead of team-mate Fabrizio.

Young Michel Fabrizio made a determined start to his year and leaves Qatar with 18 championship points, accumulated from his tenth (race 1) and fifth (race 2) place finishes.

Bayliss, with 38 points, leads the World Superbike championship after round 1 here in Qatar.
