30/11/2008: Chelsea-Arsenal 1-2 (Premier League)

Scritto da: admin, il 30 November 2008, 10:27 pm

20 minutes in at Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard forced a save from Almunia with a header. On the half hour the Arsenal goalie was at fault for Chelsea’s opener, Almunia carelessly threw out the ball to lose the Gunners possession and Bosingwa’s teasing cross was turned into his own net from Johan Djourou. After soaking up a lot of pressure at the start of the second half, Arsenal sucker-punched the Blues with a powerful right-footed strike from Robin van Persie (offside), which left Cech grabbing think air. The Gunners then stunned the Bridge with a second moments later, Adebayor won a header from a free-kick, and van Persie picked up the ball and hit a low shot on the turn.

Petr Cech made a smart save to deny Mathieu Chalme’s fierce right-footed shot after 20 minutes in Bordeaux. In a goalless opening 45, one of the highlights was some sublime juggling and ball skills from Yoann Gourcuff. The Blues made the breakthrough on the hour mark, Frank Lampard released Nicolas Anelka whose paced took him through and goal where he finished expertly. But just as it looked as if Chelsea would claim the three points, Alou Diarra headed an equaliser seven minutes from time.

Jose Bosingwa cut in from the right and unleashed a superb shot with his left foot that arrowed into the near post. The second goal was all Nicolas Anelka, the Frenchman being sent clear 45-yards on goal and the number nine bore down on Carson before beating him with a deft finish. And in injury time at the end of the opening 45 Chelsea killed the game when Anelka scored his second after good work from Kalou.

09/11/2008: Blackburn-Chelsea 0-2 (Premier League)

Scritto da: admin, il 9 November 2008, 11:00 pm

With the rain pouring down, Chelsea were denied a great shout for a penalty early doors, Anelka intercepted a desperately short back pass from Andrews, beat Paul Robinson and seemingly got a nick, only for the Frenchman to tumble to no avail. Lampard tested Paul Robinson with a shot from distance. Chelsea’s dominance finally paid off, although only in odd fashion, as Bosingwa’s optimistic 35-yard shot deflected goalwards off Nicolas Anelka, catching out Robinson as the ball trickled over the line. After the break Rovers saw more of the ball without making it count, and the Blues took advantage when Lampard did brilliantly to avoid losing the ball in the box, finding Anelka with the number 9 lifting a shot over Robinson for the second. Frank Lampard hit the bar from a free-kick as Chelsea returned to the top of the league.

04/11/2008: Roma-Chelsea 3-1 (Champions League)

Scritto da: admin, il 5 November 2008, 1:09 am

Christian Panucci continued his fine scoring record this season by giving Roma the lead in their must-win game at home to Chelsea, sending the Olimpico wild turning home Cicinho’s cross. Scolari threw on Drogba at the break, but it was Roma who flew out the traps as Mirko Vucinic smashed home a 20-yard beauty for 2-nil. Chelsea’s defense, which had only conceded four goals all season, were then ripped to pieces by Roma’s third, Vucinic skinned Obi Mikel before expertly beating Cech to send the locals crazy. John Terry (handball) pulled a goal back for Chelsea with 15 minutes to go, but the Blues were dealt a cruel blow of the ref made a poor decision to send off Deco.

I giallorossi con una prestazione superlativa annientano la squadra di Scolari. Nel primo tempo va in gol Panucci, poi, nella ripresa, arriva la strepitosa doppietta di Vucinic. Per i londinesi segna Terry.

Anelka then dragged a shot wide, while Geovanni made life awkward for Petr Cech with a free-kick The Blues doubled their lead early in the second half as Anelka chased down a long hopeful ball forward, and after indecision in the Hull backline, Anelka slotted home. 26/10/2008: Chelsea-Liverpool 0-1 (Premier League)

Scritto da: admin, il 26 October 2008, 7:46 pm

A bright opening on a gloomy day in London was capped with an early Liverpool goal after 10 minutes, a Terry clearance fell to Xabi Alonso on the edge of the box and the Spaniard’s shot deflected off Bosingwa into the centre of Cech’s goal. Gerrard let rip with a brilliant left-footed half-volley that forced a smart save from Cech. In the second half Alonso was desperately unlucky not to score Liverpool’s second, but his free-kick struck the foot of the post to stay out. Liverpool repelled everything an under-strengthened Chelsea could muster but at the end Chelsea finally lost their unbeaten home record stretching back to February 2004.
