Luca Toni put Bayern Munich in front at Monchengladbach after great work by Lahm. In the second half Franck Ribery won a penalty and the Frenchmen dusted himself down to convert the spot-kick. But the hosts came back into the game with thanks to a North American double. Canadian Rob Friend headed home the first goal for Gladbach from a corner before American Michael Bradley netted the equaliser three minutes later to send the home side wild.

It was a blistering start at the Veltins-Arena, Luca Toni scoring after just three minutes with a shot in the near post, only for Schalke to level two minutes later when Jefferson Farfan hit a shot into the far corner. Bayern retook the lead on the half hour mark, Ribery played a slick one-two with Ze Roberto and the Frenchman stroked in number two.

Third-place Fiorentina, who were hosting group leaders Bayern Munich needing a win, made a great start as Adrian Mutu volleyed home Zauri’s cross after 10 minutes. Mutu had a wonderful opportunity to double the lead early in the second half, but the Romanian’s free header was sent over the bar. Bayern eventually drew level, Ribery’s through-ball was deflected into the path of Tim Borowski who stroked home the equaliser.

And the favour was returned minutes later, Klose picked out Ribery on the edge of the box and the Frenchman volleyed Bayern into the lead.

After having signs of an upturn in fortunes in the last round of matches, Bayern returned to their old, losing way by falling 2-down in the space of 2 minutes. Grafite put Wolfsburg ahead from the spot in the 31st minute with Dzeko adding the second, glancing a header past Rensing. But Bayern gave themselves a lifeline just before the interval, Ribery fired home a low drive form the edge of the box. Bayern restored parity early in the second half through van Bommel’s looping header after Klose’s shot was initially saved. The turnaround was completed in the 63rd by Tim Borowski, who drilled home a shot at the back post. Bayern’s superb second half display was capped by Schweinsteiger adding the fourth.

Cool finishing and a touch of luck in defence helped Bayern strengthen their grip on Champions League Group F with a 3-0 win over Fiorentina. Miroslav Klose raced through the middle to open the scoring in the fourth minute, Bastian Schweinsteiger cracked in the second midway through the first half and Ze Roberto made certain of victory in the 90th minute.

Miroslav Klose struck four minutes from time to give Bayern their first victory in four league games.

Bayern took the lead through Van Buyten after 15 minutes before Sinan Kaloglu equalised at the near post after a swift break down the left. Ze Roberto restored Bayern’s lead when he took a loose ball on his chest before shooting across goal and into the net just before halftime. The Brazilian got his second with another calm finish midway through the second half but Bayern then conspired to throw the game away. Bochum pulled a goal back when Christoph Dabrowski strolled through the middle to tap in a cross from the right and repeated the mistake when Dennis Grote was left alone to head in the equaliser at the far post.
