Russia’s Yelena Isinbayeva won the gold medal in the Olympic women’s pole vault and then broke her own world record when she leapt 5.05 metres. Jennifer Stuczynski of the United States won silver medal with 4.80m and Svetlana Feofanova took the bronze with a best jump of 4.75m.
Due soli salti: è quanto è servito a Yelena Isinbayeva per diventare campionessa olimpica di salto con l’asta. 4.70 saltato al primo tentativo e poi 4.85 anche in un solo colpo. Ma è stata la sola a riuscirci e quindi non è servito altro per il titolo olimpico. E fa molto di più: 5.05 che è il nuovo record del mondo.
