07/09/2008: Chile-Brazil 0-3 (2010 World Cup qualifier)
Early on Brazil looked dangerous, Luis Fabiano cleverly fed Robinho but his shot was saved by Bravo. Brazil broke the deadlock soon after, Luis Fabiano’s flicked header from Ronaldinho’s free-kick sailed into the bottom corner. Ronaldinho then had the opportunity to extend the lead from the spot after Diego had been hacked down, but his spot-kick was superbly saved by Claudio Bravo. But Brazil were soon 2-up, Lucio’s long ball was collected by Luis Fabiano, who teed up Robinho, and the Manchester City forward side-footed a beauty into the net. Brazil added a third in the second half, Luis Fabiano bagging his second of the match in the 82nd minute by wriggling free in the box and firing low across the keeper. Brazil’s Kleber and Chile’s Jorge Valdivia were both sent off in the second half.
Grazie al netto 3-0 a Santiago i verde-oro raggiungono l’Argentina nel girone sudamericano di qualificazione ai Mondiali. Doppietta di Luis Fabiano e gol di Robinho.
