New-comers Numancia shocked Barcelona by moving ahead in the 12th minute, poor defending left Mario free at the back post and the forward was able to pick his spot to score. Eto’o saw his shot clip the top of the bar just a few minutes later. In the dying seconds Messi crashed a free-kick off the post.
