Thierry Henry got a warm applause from the Arsenal crowd as he dragged a shot wide of Szczesny’s post after 10 minutes. Robin van Persie was next to threaten from a tight angle and Aaron Ramsey blazed over after good work by RVP. On the half hour Gervinho thought he had won a penalty when he was felled in the area. Arsenal did take a deserved lead before half-time when Robin van Persie headed home a Rosicky free-kick. Just before the hour mark, Benik Afobe went on a fine run down the left but his cut back was blocked on its way into the path of RVP. With 20 minutes remaining New York began to threaten with Szczesny making a fine save from Thierry Henry. With four minutes to go, Arsenal, for the second time in two days let a lead slip, Kyle Bartley turning into his own net. Henry was involved in the move and the draw means New York Red Bulls win the Emirates Cup.
