Real Madrid stole ahead at Osasuna after 10 minutes when Gonzalo Higuain collected the ball on the right-hand side, cut into the box, and fired home. The lead lasted only minutes, Jaroslav Plasil sneaking a tame shot into the near post that Casillas should have saved. Osasuna’s task got a little easier after Michel Salgado was handed a straight red in the 55th minute, and soon the hosts took advantage as Juanfran smacked an unstoppable 20-yard volley that ripped into the net on the hour.
