After a goalless first half at Fiorentina, the Rossoneri moved ahead when Kaka eventually converted a delicious Zambrotta cross after 54 minutes. Alexandre Pato came off the bench, and the Brazilian soon chalked up the second with a deft finish past Frey to double Milan’s lead. Milan finished the season as runners-up. After the match Carlo Ancelotti announced his departure from Milan, however the Italian would not confirm his next employment.
