A horrendous attempt from the Catania shot-stopper to block Nicola Mingazzini’s speculative shot at the keeper’s near-post ended in failure, handing Bologna the early lead. More awful defending from Catania gifted Claudio Terzi space in the box to plant home a free header after 25 minutes. Catania reduced their arrears through Takayuki Morimoto, Marco Di Vaio gave Bologna a two-goal cushion again and Catania could not respond.
