It was a helter-skelter start to the match, with Liverpool enjoying most of the possession. Newcastle took the lead both against the run of play and freakishly, as a whipped cross brushed off both Daniel Agger (O.G.) and Demba Ba before nestling in the net. Livepool dusted themselves down and wasted no time redresseing the balance, Craig Bellamy grabbing the equaliser with a belting shot from the edge of the box. Livepool really exerted their authority on the game with the introduction of Steven Gerrard; Craig Bellamy first scoring from a free-kick, before Steven Gerrard himself put the game beyond doubt with the third, slipping behind the Newcastle defence to finish coolly with his left foot.
