The cat was put amongst the pigeons as Vaslui took the lead in the San Siro through a Nicusor Stanciu penalty after Castellazzi had been sent off. With fifteen minutes remaining Rodrigo Palacio pulled Inter level on the night, but the Romanians continued to press and three minutes later Fernando Varela restored the visitors lead. Deep into injury time Fredy Guarin scored his first Inter goal to progress into the group phase.
