Carlos Checa won the first World Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Althea Racing rider finished three seconds ahead of Jakub Smrz to continue his domination of the weekend, which had seen him go fastest in practice and also take pole. Sylvain Guintoli finished third as Ducati enjoyed a clean sweep in the opening race of the weekend. Leon Camier recovered from a mid-race hiccup to come back and take fourth place.
