After a scrappy opening to the Merseyside derby, Argentine holding-man Javier Mascherano found himself able to have a pop from 20-yards and his shot took a wicked deflection off Yobo to wrongfoot Howard in the Everton goal. Everton the had two goal chalked off, saw Riena make numerous wonder saves, only for Yobo to screw up ten minutes from time that allowed Riera to fire on target and Dirk Kuyt tucked in the rebound.
