Eric Abidal took a knock to the nod in the early exchanges as he was eased head-first into the advertising hoarding by Nilmar. Although Sergio Busquets hit the crossbar the Yellow Sub managed to stayed afloat until the 25th minute, but then home-grown starlet Thiago Alcantara drilled a low left footer into the bottom corner. On the stroke of halftime Cesc Fabregas scored, the former Arsenal man rounding Lopez and squeezing the ball home from an acute angle following a Messi through-ball. Two minutes after the restart Barcelona notched a killer third as Alexis Sanchez collected a ball over the top and drilled the ball home into the far bottom corner. By the 50th it was four as a classic Barca pass-pass-pass attacked was finished by Lionel Messi. Barca extended their lead in the 74th minute when Messi converted Thiago’s cross.
