On 22 minutes Giuseppe Rossi was on the end of a fine move and through ball by Cazorla to put the Yellow Submarine ahead. ten minutes later, Spurs’ evening got a lot tougher when Giuseppe Rossi again beat Tottenham keeper Gomes, this time thanks to a pass from Senna. A host of substitutions at the break looked to have yielded a Spurs response when Giovani Dos Santos pulled one back after good work by Crouch. Villarreal though eventually ran out comfortable winners over Tottenham with Guiseppe Rossi completing his hat-trick thanks to a heavy deflection off Corluka and Ruben adding the fourth late on.
