A resurgent AC Milan made a blistering start at Napoli and looked to have won the match in the opening six minutes. Seedorf played in Pippo Inzaghi for the opener on three minutes and then Alexandre Pato doubled the lead when given a huge amount of freedom. Napoli fought back and pulled out a draw with two goals in injury-time, the first from German Denis and then the equaliser from Luca Cigarini.
