Liverpool got into their rhythm early on, Stewart Downing whipped a cross just wide of the post following a nice team move. On 16 Harry Kane shot wide for Spurs. Just before the half hour Adam Morgan saw a fine chance tipped round the post by Brad Friedel. The best chance of the first half fell to Aaron Lennon who hit the post from a Bale cross. Gylfi Sigurdsson then headed at the keeper from a Bale cross. Martin Skrtel had a shot on goal after a run from deep at the start of the second half. William Gallas fired over from a Huddlestone through ball midway through the half.
