World champion Sebastian Vettel was denied a winning finish to the 2011 season as his Red Bull team-mate won the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos. Vettel started from pole and quickly built a healthy lead, but an intermittent gearbox problem forced him to cut his pace and let Webber through on lap 29. The Australian grabbed his opportunity with both hands, driving a flawless race to take a comfortable victory ahead of Vettel, with Jenson Button third.
