Just over a minute passed before Tim Krul made himself the Christmas turkey passing a clearance straight to Carlos Tevez, the Argentine roll the ball to Gareth Barry down the left and the holding midfielder slid a shot between the keeper’s legs. City’s lightning start continued after five minutes as Carlos Tevez began and finished a move involving James Milner to double the visitors’ lead. With twenty minutes remaining Newcastle got the goal they needed to set up a grandstand finish, Barton pinged a corner in from the left and the human-battering-ram Andy Carroll powered in a header to give the Magpies hope. Ten minutes from time Man City killed the game with a third, Carlos Tevez worked his way in from the left, played a one-two with Johnson, and the Argentine saw his shot deflect off Coloccini and into the near post.
