Rock bottom West Ham could only last ten minutes before conceding at Craven Cottage, the Hammers defended their lines poorly from a corner and Davies was able to stand a cross up into the centre that an unmarked Aaron Hughes headed the ball in the corner. Fulham bossed the game thereafter but failed to turn slick passes into goals, and in the 36th minute the Irons hit them with a sucker-punch as a poor mistake from Etuhu trying to cut out a Sears cross fed the ball into Carlton Cole and the out-of-form forward got back on the scoresheet sliding in the equaliser. On the stroke of halftime West Ham got the Christmas miracle they’d so been craving when Parker curled a cross towards the far post and Frederic Piquionne stormed in to volley in a second. In the 72nd minute West Ham netted a killer third, Gabbidon’s hopeful long punt found it’s way to Carlton Cole in the box and, with a taste for goals, the forward steered a first time shot into the far post.
