The first real chance fell to Roma with Tachtsidis running through but Gulacsi saved the 1-on-1. Raheem Sterling then had a shot saved from the Liverpool left wing. On the half hour Joe Cole went so close, clipping the crossbar with a cheeky chip. Jonjo Shelvey also went close towards the end of the first half. On 63, Roma took the lead, Michael Bradley sent the American fans into raptures with a fine low effort into the corner. Six minutes later it was 2-0 as a fine move was eventually finished off by Alessandro Florenzi. With 10 minutes to go Charlie Adam fired one back for Liverpool.
