Jonathan Rea has lifted himself back into the World Superbike title fight with a resounding double victory on Ten Kate Honda’s home ground at Assen. The first time the Northern Irishman has won two races on one weekend, although pole position and two wins signals a perfect weekend for Rea, the strength of the competition in each race belied the suggestion of a dominant ‘clean sweep’. Crucially for Rea, it was ability to make a series of aggressive, but clean, passes that made the difference, as well as his speed in clear air that made him difficult to beat in the closing stages of each race.
