Robin van Persie flashed a volley narrowly wide after four minutes as Arsenal started on the front foot, but Ipswich, defending a 1-nil aggregate lead, put the frightners on the hosts when Conor Wickham had a header which missed the bar but the 17-year-old also helped flatten both Bacary Sagna and Wojciech Szczesny. Arsenal continued to press for the equaliser but Robin van Persie was denied when he saw hit the bar. Robin van Persie had a third chance to score on the half hour volleying sublime play from Fabregas, but the Dutchman saw his effort cleared off the line as the Gunners continued to be frustrated. Just after the hour Arsenal scored, Jack Wilshere sprayed a cross-field pass to Nicklas Bendtner – the Dane beat offside trap, cut inside and curled a lovely low shot into far corner. Minutes later Arsenal netted a second as Laurent Koscielny headed a Arshavin corner to give the Wenger Boys the lead in the tie for the first time. Thirteen minutes from time Arsenal confirmed their place at Wembley, Cesc Fabregas played a counter-attacking one-two with Arshavin and tucked home the killer goal with his left foot.
