Australian Casey Stoner extended his MotoGP championship lead with victory in the US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. Stoner, the 2007 world champion, overtook Yamaha’s defending champion Jorge Lorenzo and pole sitter on the 27th lap of 32 at the sun-soaked California circuit. The 24-year-old Spaniard, winner here last year, finished over five seconds back with Honda’s Dani Pedrosa, fresh from victory at last week’s German Grand Prix, third.
