In the rearranged game, it took Real Madrid just 13 minutes to break the deadlock as Karim Benzema converted at the back post from a Di Maria cross. With 20 minutes to go Cristiano Ronaldo won and converted a penalty for 2-0. Five minutes later Cristiano Ronaldo missed an open goal, somehow finding the post when left with an empty net.
