Napoli were awarded an early penalty at Palermo after Cassani handballed in the box, and Edinson Cavani made no mistake from the spot. The Sicilians equalised in the 38th minute when Cassani served up a cross that Federico Balzaretti volleyed home, and a gripping first forty five ended with Palermo earning a penalty that Cesare Bovo smashed home seconds before the halftime whistle.
