Zaragoza had Jose Fernandez sent off for a poor foul on Reyes midway trhough the first half, and Sevilla capitalised with an Alvaro Negredo header from a corner in the 36th. Sevilla were cruising at the break as Ivan Rakitic doubled the lead. An Alvaro Negredo penalty after the break killed the cup tie, while Zaragoza were reduced to 9-men when Fran Gonzalez saw red in the 67th. Manu scored a fourth at the death.
