Although Federico Macheda was making his first start in Serie A since joining Samp on loan from Manchester united, with Alessandro del Piero also dropping out of the Juve starting line-up just before kick-off after suffering a bout of flu, it was no surprise that chances were few and far between. Giampaolo Pazzini and Del Piero missed Juve’s best chances.
