20-year-old midfielder Josh Wright had a moment he’ll never forget when he gave Scunthorpe the lead against Manchester United with a fantastic right footed shot that pierced the top corner. Darron Gibson pegged Scunny back within four minutes, the young Irishman collected Smalling’s long ball down-field and produced a neat lob to finish. United asserted their superiority soon after when a foiled free-kick fell to Brown, he played in Park down the inside right channel and the South Korean’s cross gave Chris Smalling his first goal for the Red Devils. The game was over in the second half when Kiko Macheda played Michael Owen through down the middle and the legendary striker shot into the far corner for his first goal of the season. It was then a question of how many when Park Ji-Sung added a fourth following a corner. Park set up number five in the 71st when he drove towards the penalty box and saw his effort parried into Michael Owen’s path and Little Mickey made no mistake from close range. Martyn Woolford claimed and injury time consolation for Scunny.
