21/11/2009: Liverpool-Manchester City 2-2 (Premier League)
A world class one-handed save from Shay Given denied Martin Skrtel from heading Liverpool into a 5th minute lead as Liverpool began in attacking intent in front of the Kop. The Reds then lost Agger and Babel early doors, but despite their rejig they continued to dominate City with Steven Gerrard superbly denied by Toure just before the half hour. Minutes into the second half Liverpool deservedly struck, Gerrard whipped in a free-kick to the near post and Martin Skrtel beat Adebayor to the ball the score into the near post. In the 68th minute City levelled as Skrtel went awol at a corner allowing Emmanuel Adebayor the freedom of the box to pick his spot with a header. City, all of a sudden in firm control of the match, went on to take the lead as Tevez and Wright-Phillips combined before Stephen Ireland (offside?) was able to tap in number two. But Mark Hughes was left pulling his hair out seconds later as City’s backline immediately fell to pieces and Yossi Benayoun slid in Liverpool’s leveller.
