Arsenal cemented top place in Champions League Group G after an emphatic 5-2 victory over Fenerbahce in an action packed encounter in Istanbul. Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott scored in as many minutes to put the Gunners two up inside 11 minutes and although Mikael Silvestre put through his own net soon after, the impressive Abou Diaby restored Arsenal’s two goal advantage before the break. Alexandre Song added a fourth early in the second period and although Dani Guiza pulled one back, 17-year-old substitute Aaron Ramsey put the icing on the cake with an injury time strike.

Al 10′ Adebayor scatta sul filo del fuorigioco e firma l’1-0; sessanta secondi dopo azione fotocopia con Walcott che sigla il raddoppio. Il Fenerbahçe accorcia al 19′ grazie ad una sfortunata autorete di Silvestre, ma poco dopo Diaby supera Volkan segnando la terza rete dell’Arsenal. Nella ripresa ancora inizio fulminante degli uomini di Wenger, con Song che al 49′ risolve una mischia in area firmando il 4-1. Ci pensa Guiza però a riaccendere le speranze del Fenerbahçe, segnando il 2-4 al 78′. Nel finale c’è gloria anche per il 17enne Ramsey, che di destro si prende il gol del definitivo 5-2.
