Wayne Rooney headed into his own net, giving Stoke the early lead at Old Trafford. Rooney atoned for his OG with the equaliser from an RVP pass. United took the lead into the break, Robin Van Persie scoring on the stroke of half-time. Danny Welbeck made it 3-2 right afer the break. Stoke pulled it back to 3-2 through Michael Kightly. Wayne Rooney calmed any nerves with the fourth on 65.
