Tyson Chandler tipped in a missed shot with 3.3 seconds left to give New Orleans a 95-94 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night, saving the Hornets after they blew a 17-point lead with four minutes remaining. Charlie Bell capped the Bucks’ comeback with a 3-pointer from the corner - their sixth consecutive 3 in the last 3:22 - as Milwaukee turned an 89-72 deficit into a 94-93 lead with 10.5 seconds left. David West missed a potential game-winner from there lane, but Chandler was there to tip in the miss. Luke Ridnour’s 30-foot heave at the buzzer was nowhere close for the Bucks, who were out of timeouts and had to race the ball up the court after Chandler’s basket.
LeBron James missed shots, complained to the refs and went an entire game without an assist for the first time in his career. The Houston Rockets, meanwhile, showed they just might be contenders in the Western Conference with a 93-74 win over James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. Yao Ming scored 28 points and Ron Artest added 15 while harassing James on defense most of the night, leading the Rockets to their six consecutive win and ninth straight at home.
AC Milan took a two nil lead into the break thanks to a penalty from Andrea Pirlo and a cracking strike from Alexandre Pato. But the Germans produced a great comeback and two goals from Claudio Pizarro sent them through at the expense of David Beckham and the Rossoneri.
Manchester City are now the sole representatives from England in the UEFA Cup. Craig Bellamy rifled home the opener in the 73 minute and doubled the lead minutes later after good work by Robinho. Martin Vingaard’s late strike was merely a consolation for the visitors.
