(Aragon - SBK Superbike 2011)

Reigning champion Max Biaggi finally claimed his first win of the World Superbike season at Motorland Aragon to heap pressure on championship leader Carlos Checa. After marching to the title last year the Aprilia Alitalia rider has seen this season plagued by rider errors. That familiar tale continued in race one with the Italian looking set to claim the win before running wide late on and losing out to countryman Marco Melandri. But the Roman Emperor was not to be denied in the second race of the day at the Spanish circuit, leading from the first bend to the last. Melandri had to settle for second with Checa – after a first-race crash – only able to finish third on what was a disappointing weekend for the Spaniard.
