Real Madrid dominated the first half and should have taken the lead at the back post towards the end of the opening 45 but Gonzalo Higuain fired over. On the hour Marcelo fizzed a shot just wide of the post as Real continued to press. On 69 Manchester City took the lead, Yaya Toure’s trademark rampaging run set up Edin Dzeko to beat Iker Casillas. The lead lasted just seven minutes as a right-footed deflected effort from Marcelo made it 1-1. On 85 an Alexander Kolarov free-kick was deflected in by Xabi Alonso for 2-1 City. Two minutes later Real equalised thanks to Karim Benzema’s fine turn and shot. The match was won in dramatic style in injury time as Cristiano Ronaldo beat Hart from the edge of the box.
