It took Chelsea just four minutes to score their opening goal of the season. Josh McEachran won the ball and fed Romelu Lukaku to lash home. On 11 it was 2-0 as Eden Hazard saw his deflected shot go in for his first Chelsea goal. A mistake by McEachran saw Fredy Montero pull a goal back three minutes later. Just after the half hour, Fredy Montero claimed another to bring the game back to 2-2. Another girst goal for Chelsea, also deflected from a cut inside, regained the lead for the Blues, this time from Marko Marin. Before the break there was still time for another, as Marin fed Romelu Lukaku who rounded the keeper for his second of the match.
