Both teams kept it tight in the first 20 minutes. Fernando Torres had a shot saved by Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa at the near post. On the hour Ivan Rakitic had a glorious chance from a fantastic Modric cross, but Iker Casillas pulled off a blinding save. Croatia looked threatening in the latter stages and Sergio Busquets was lucky to get away with what looked a foul on Corluka from a corner. On 88 it was 1-0 as Cesc Fabregas chipped in Iniesta who squared for Jesus Navas to win it.
