It took just 6 minutes for Real Madrid to go ahead, Kaka heading across for Cristiano Ronaldo to score with another header at the back post. Six minutes before half-time Cisma was sent off for Santander and it was 2-0 seconds before the break as Karim Benzema clipped home to all but seal the win. Despite their man advantage the main highlight of the second half was the lights going out at the Santaigo Bernabeu until the returning Angel Di Maria, on as a substitute, cracked home a fine left footed golazo for the third. A deflected effort from Karim Benzema in the final minutes finished the rout.
