Birmingham stunned the Bridge by taking an early lead, David Murphy stealing in at the back post to score from a well-delivered corner kick. Chelsea immediately had the chance to equalize, Ramires winning a penalty, which was taken by Juan Mata and very well saved by Colin Doyle. Chelsea really upped the pressure from the restart and deservedly got their equalizer, Ivanovic laying a perfect cross on for Daniel Sturridge who guided his header into the far corner of the net.
