Arsenal started badly in Porto finding themselves under the cosh from the get-go, Hulk dragging a shot wide after just two minutes. The Gunners were made to look silly in the 11th minute when Silvestre Varela skipped past Clichy down the right and whacked a cross goalwards that stand-in keeper Lukasz Fabianski horribly turned into his own net. Arsenal grabbed the crucial away goal in the 16th minute from the most unlikely source. Vermaelen flicked on a Nasri corner to the back post, Rosicky knocked the ball back into the mixer, and Sol Campbell was perfectly placed to nod the ball over the line. Arsenal conceded a bizarre goal at the start of the second half to caused by Campbell’s needless touch on the ball that Fabianski stupidly picked up to give away an indirect free-kick. Porto took it quickly and Raul Meireles touched the ball to Falcao who scored. Cesc Fabregas appeared to be hit by a missile when trying to take corner.
