After 22 rather turgid minutes (Scott Parker’s piledriver the main highlight), Steven Gerrard produced a magnificent cross into the mixer where Andy Carroll boomed a header past Isaksson. Early in the second half Sweden drew level as a Zlatan free-kick fell to Mellberg, and his shot was turned into the net by Glen Johnson. Just before the hour Sweden took the lead as a free-kick was headed home by Olof Mellberg, but by the 64th it was 2-2 as, following a corner, Theo Walcott fired off a shot from the edge which wrongfooted Isaksson. An amazing second half swug England’s way in the 77th as Theo Walcott put on the afterburners to zip through the Swedish backline, and his cross was brilliantly flicked home by Danny Welbeck.
