Spain struck first in their friendly with Argentina as Xabi Alonso followed up a David Silva shot to score in the six yard box. A Lionel Messi penalty on the hour mark brought Diego Maradona’s side level, but the match was settled by a Spanish spot-kick four minutes from time as Xabi Alonso netted a rare international double.
