Against the script Blackburn broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Kuszczak and the United defence were caught out by a couple of crosses across the box, before party-pooper Brett Emerton was there to sweep the ball home. Twenty minutes from time Manchester United won a penalty after Javier Hernandez was taken out by Robinson in the box, and Wayne Rooney stepped up to score the crucial goal for the Red Devils.
