Santiago Garcia put Novara into a shock lead at the San Siro after 20 minutes. Early in the second half Mathieu Flamini equalised for the Rossoneri. On 82, 15 minutes after coming on as sub, and on his final AC Milan appearance, Pippo Inzaghi won the match with a chest down and finish from a Seedorf ball.
