The hosts took the lead on 23 through Artur Sobiech after Anders Lindegaard did himself no favours in trying to usurp David De Gea as Manchester United number one by spilling the initial shot. Manchester United equalised just after the half hour as Javier Hernandez scored from close range. Hannover took the lead again in the second half as Karim Haggui rose highest to head home their second. An excellent flicked back heel by Mo Abdellaoue put Hannover 3-1 up. Before Wayne Rooney sparked a comeback. First cracking home a brilliant free-kick. Before equalising with a penalty. With 5 minutes to go Shinji Kagawa scored his second winner of pre-season, latching on to a Rooney header.
