The national anthems were well observed by all and sundry. James Milner had a gilt-edged chance early on, but skewed his left-footed shot wide after rounding Lloris. England took the lead from the most unlikely of sources, Joleon Lescott meeting Stevie G’s free-kick and powering it beyond Lloris. Les Bleus equalized through expat Samir Nasri, who struck a low shot into the bottom corner. (An alternative version, with Nasri’s ‘shushing’ towards the English bench.)
