Italy came close to scoring when Antonio Cassano dragged a shot wide of Casillas’ post. Andres Iniesta was bossing the game for Spain with his quick feet, while Antonio Cassano was making a nuisance of himself tripping up Casillas. Just before the interval Andres Iniesta showed a lovely touch before firing a shot over Buffon’s bar, while at the other end Iker Casillas produced a super one-handed save to deny Motta. At the start of the second half Mario Balotelli blew a great chance for the Azzurri when his slowness allowed Ramos to steal the ball off his toes. On the hour Italy took the lead as Pirlo’s slide pass released Antonio Di Natale and the newly introduced sub coolly found the far corner. Two and half minutes later Spain equalised as Silva slipped a pass through to Cesc Fabregas and the Barca man banged the ball past Buffon. Gigi Buffon showed off his ball skills when the keeper tackled sub Fernando Torres like a defender. Garnering plenty of scorn, Fernando Torres blasted a shot over the bar in the final stages.
