Eugene announced himself as a World Superbike title contender by claiming the race two victory in Monza to make it a double in Italy. Rookie Laverty – in his first full season in the premier class after finishing as a runner-up in the World Supersport class for the last two campaigns – claimed his first superbike podium in race one. And the Yamaha World Superbike rider was at it again in race two, with a hugely contrasting ride – fighting back from a nightmare start -to move through the field and up to fifth in the overall standings.
